From Vibrant Coral Gardens to Historic Shipwrecks
El Mina Wreck
A shallow, broken wreck resting at 12–25m, perfect for beginners and snorkelers. The remains of a cargo ship are now encrusted with soft corals, attracting lionfish, morays, and scorpionfish. Easy penetration allows for safe wreck exploration, while the surrounding sandy bottom hosts garden eels and occasional rays. Great for night dives due to its calm conditions.
Abu Nuhas
A notorious ship graveyard with four major wrecks (e.g., Carnatic, Giannis D) lying at 15–30m. Strong currents and sharp coral formations make it challenging but rewarding. Advanced divers explore intact engine rooms and cargo holds, while reef walls host barracudas, turtles, and Napoleon wrasse. Surface intervals often include watching ships pass the dangerous reef.
Shaab El Erg
Famous for dolphin encounters, this reef offers thrilling drift dives along steep walls (12–40m). Caves, overhangs, and coral gardens shelter anthias, trevallies, and reef sharks. The northern tip, “Dolphin House,” is a hotspot for spinner dolphins. Night dives reveal octopuses and hunting jacks. Suitable for all levels.
Careless Reef
Careless Reef is famous for its strong currents, making it an ideal spot for exhilarating drift dives. The reef is home to an abundance of marine biodiversity, including barracuda, trevallies, tuna, and the occasional hammerhead or grey reef shark.
